Cleft Lip and Palate Centre

 Multidisciplinar complex treatment for children with orofacial clefts including consultations of following specialists:

• Maxillofacial surgeon
• Orthodontist
• Speechpathologist
• Genetician

Since 1998 the specialists of the centre are members of European cooperation projects ‘Eurocleft’ and ‘Eurocran’, aiming to provide the best quality treatment for children with maxillo-facial pathologies.
In the period after the operation (1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months, 5 and 10 years) the changes are evaluated by taking pictures, making roentgen examinations and creating gyps casts. We will try to answer all your questions and complains during the visits.
The orthodontic treatment after the operation lasts 6 to 8 months. The braces are taken out and retainers are made that the patient will have to wear for 1 to 2 years until the teeth fit in the new position.
Sometimes the jaw deformation can build up a record time and a repeated operation is necessary.
