First appointment
During the first consultation the orthodontist performs a clinical examination of the patient and takes impressions to create casts from the upper and lower jaws.
The orthodontist also sends the patient to an X-ray examination. In our clinic it is possible to use modern cone-beam computer tomography (I-CAT) imaging system to capture 3 dimensional pictures that would aid orthodontist in quicker and more comprehensive diagnostic treatment planning.
During the first visit, the orthodontist also takes pictures of the patient (teeth, face profile) which aid in further treatment planning.
An individual treatment plan can only be created after the diagnostics. When the orthodontist evaluates the diagnostics data, he/she decides if:
- An immediate treatment is necessary
- The treatment must be delayed, because:
- The patient still has to grow
- The condition of teeth or gums is not healthy
