Replacement of the missing teeth by removable dentures

The missing teeth can be replaced by removable dentures. It means that the artificial teeth are not tightly fixed into the mouth and, for hygienic needs, can be removed and placed back again. Removable dentures, in comparison to non-removable ones, are less expensive. One of the drawbacks of this construction is its aesthetical aspect, because while a person is smiling, hooks embracing the natural teeth and providing the stability, can be seen. The most optimal solution for hiding the hooks is the attachment system. The attachments hold the denture on the natural tooth without any visible hooks, thus all the attachment mechanism is hidden.
The removable dentures are made of plastic or a combination of metal and plastic. Lately zirconium oxide has been used too.
There are cases when the removable construction is the only way how to replace the missing teeth. In such a case one can use implants as well, to provide the stability of the removable denture and lessen the discomfort to the patient.
